Trey Cantrell Resigns at Westview after three seasons

After three seasons, Trey Cantrell has resigned at Westview.

The Chargers finished this season at 2-8 and Cantrell was 6-24 in his three seasons in Martin.

Before taking over the programs three season ago, Cantrell served as the Charger defensive coordinator and had coached at Westview for 12 seasons.

“I have been at Westview 15 years so I believe it is a good time for change, I am honored to have followed and work under Don Coady. Many doors have been opened because of guys like Don Coady, Jason Simpson, and Kevin Ward. My family has known nothing but Westview Chargers. This is more than a job to me but a lifestyle and one that has been very positive,” Cantrell said.

“I knew the position I was stepping into was a very tough spot because of following a legend and competing in a tough region. I truly wish I could have won more games but me and my staff worked extremely hard every day to do the best job possible. The time for me to move is now and I look forward to coaching football in any capacity somewhere else. Again I can say enough how proud I am to have been the head coach at Westview and coach so many great young men over the last fifteen years.”

There are currently nine programs looking for a head coach they are: Boyd Buchanan, Cumberland County, East Hickman, Fayetteville, Hunters Lane, Sweetwater, Tellico Plains, Westview and White County
