A year after being the defensive coordinator at Jackson North Side, Teddy Pettigrew will be a head coach again.
Pettigrew has been hired as the new head football coach at Humboldt.
“I am really excited for the opportunity,” Pettigrew said.
He replaces Anthony Ballard who resigned after three seasons as the Viking head coach.
Ballard led the Vikings to a 7-23 overall record and Humboldt barely missed the playoffs this year they finished the year at 5-5.
Humboldt will head into the 2021 season on a high note with a two-game winning streak.
Pettigrew will try and steer the Vikings back to the playoffs as their last playoff appearance came back in 2016.
The Humboldt job will be Pettigrew’s second tenure as head coach as he was the head coach at Milan for two seasons as he posted a 14-11 record and the Bulldogs made the 3A playoffs both seasons he was the head coach.
Milan made the 3A Quarterfinals in 2018 finishing with an 8-5 and then made the second round going 6-6 a year later.
Currently seven schools in Arlington, Cherokee, FACS, Lakeway Christian, MTCS, Mt. Pleasant and Tyner are looking for a head coach.
