The newest school in Rutherford County is looking for more after back-to-back winning records and their first playoff appearance in school history.

This year will be the fifth for Stewarts Creek and the Red Hawks are looking for more success after finishing 6-4 in 2015 and 6-5 as they made their first playoff appearance as they lost to Hillsboro in the 5A first round.

Now the Red Hawks will join fellow Rutherford County neighbors Smyrna and LaVergne as well as metro Nashville schools Antioch, Cane Ridge, Nashville Overton and McGavock in region 5-6A.

Stewarts Creek will have to replace eight starters on each side of the ball this season as only three starters return.

Senior Tayne Davis will be a two-way starter for the Red Hawks as he will return to lead the Stewarts Creek Wing-T offense at quarterback as well as play strong side linebacker on defense.

Davis will be joined by junior fullback Nathan Wright as well as seniors Loyd Rogers and T.J. Mangrum at wing back for the Red Hawks.

All-region and All-state offensive tackle Trey Greene is the only returning starter on the line but will be alongside seniors Cameron Graff and Landon Roberts at the guard positions while Hunter Johnson will be the other tackle.

When Davis looks to pass, he will see senior targets in DeAndre Britton and T.K. Hughes.

Defensively, the Red Hawks linebackers will be the unit’s strength as they will have back three of four starters in the 3-4 alignment.

Besides Davis, the Red Hawks get seniors Adarius Wilkerson and D.J. Harris returning to play at inside linebacker while junior Josh Norman will play outside with Davis.

The Red Hawks will see three new starters on the defensive line with junior Chancellor Beamon at nose guard and seniors Jaylen Kemp and JaMichael Caldwell at the end positions.

The secondary will see three senior starters in Noah Owen and Mangrum at cornerback with Rogers at strong safety and junior Jamie Wimsatt at free safety.

Besides the region schedule, Stewarts Creek will travel to Rutherford County foe Siegel to start the season as well as a trip to Brentwood (week four) before hosting Shelbyville (week six) and another Rutherford County heavyweight in Blackman in week 10.
