After four successful seasons at Haywood high school, Steve Hookfin is heading to the Razorback state.
Hookfin who led the Tomcats to a 10-5 record and a Class 4A runner up finish in 2018 has been approved by the Rogers (AR) School Board to be hired as the new head football coach at Rogers Heritage (AR) high school.
“I’m excited about the opportunity at Rogers Heritage and its been an honor and privilege to serve the students at Haywood County,” Hookfin said.
In his four year tenure at Haywood, the Tomcats improved every year under Hookfin making the 4A playoffs all four seasons, three years they won 10 plus games (10-2 in 2016, 11-3 in 2017 and 10-5 last year) as they finished 37-15 during that time.
Besides making the title game in 2018, Haywood made the Semifinal round in 2017.
Hookfin’s overall coaching record is 91-47 as he also posted a 62-34 record in eight seasons as head coach at Liberty (2007-14) where he led the Crusaders to seven straight 4A playoff appearances from 2008 to 2014 and Liberty made the Semifinals in 2009 and 2013.
Hookfin will have his work cut out for him as Rogers Heritage went winless at 0-10 last season.
There are currently eight programs looking for a head coach they are: Bolton, Cloudland, Hamilton, Haywood, Kenwood, Manassas, Morristown East and Seymour
