Randall Boldin is listening to the call to go home.
Boldin, 34, who led Whitwell to an undefeated season at 15-0 and a Class 1A state title this season has resigned at Whitwell and has accepted the head football coaching job at Waverly, his alma mater.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead my alma-mater and work for the men that played a huge role early in my life. It was very hard to leave Whitwell as my family has always felt it was a special place. I know the program is in a better place and the kids at Whitwell will continue to have success. Our family and friends in Humphreys county are excited to have us back and we look forward to building upon the success that the Waverly program has had,” Boldin said.
In his two seasons as head coach at Whitwell, Boldin posted a 26-2 record as the Tigers won the state title in 2018 and made the Quarterfinals in 2017.
