Mike Connor has been announced as the new head football coach at Silverdale.
Connor comes to Silverdale after serving as the offensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach over the last decade at nearby Chattanooga Christian.
“Silverdale Baptist Academy is excited to announce the hiring of Mike Connor as their high school head football coach. Coach Connor comes from Chattanooga Christian School where he has served in multiple administrative and coaching roles for the past ten years,” Silverdale Athletic Director Taylor Hasty said.
He takes over for Al Rogers who retired as serving as the Seahawks head coach the past nine years as he posted a 50-46 overall record with three playoff appearances in 2012, 2013 and 2018.
In 2018, the Seahawks made the Division II-AA playoffs and in 2012 and 2013 they made the Class 2A playoffs.
The Seahawks made the Class 2A Quarterfinals in 2013 as Silverdale posted an 11-2 record and the three playoff wins in Silverdale’s history were all won in Rogers’ tenure.
The Seahawks missed the playoffs this season with a 4-6 record.
“My desire is to establish and equip the student to engage their world as an obedient follower of Christ,” Connor said.
Before coming to Chattanooga Christian, Conner served as an assistant coach at two Alabama high schools in Trinity Presbyterian School (AL) (2003-09) and Butler County (1998-2002).
Currently there are 10 schools looking for a head coach they are: Dickson County, Fairley, Fayette Academy, First Assembly Christian, Harding Academy, Hickman County, Union City, Whites Creek, Whitwell and York Institute
