DeMarkcus Harmon is hoping to bring some stability to the RePublic football program.
Harmon, 30, who coached linebackers last year for the Trailblazers has been promoted to head coach at the Nashville charter school replacing Ron Lambert.
“We are excited that Coach Harmon will continue with the RePublic football program. His dedication, leadership and tenacity will strengthen the young program’s foundation. He has great relationships with our student-athletes and cares about preparing them to succeed as young men in high school and beyond,” RePublic athletic director Bethany Copeland said.
Lambert resigned earlier this offseason to become the defensive coordinator at defending Division II-A state champion Davidson Academy.
RePublic barely missed the Class 1A playoffs last season under Lambert as they finished 5-5.
The Trailblazers will move up two classifications and play in 3A in 2019 and Harmon is the third head coach for RePublic since they launched their varsity football program three years ago.
