After just one season at RePublic, veteran coach Ron Lambert has resigned from the school and has accepted the defensive coordinator job at defending Division II-A Davidson Academy.
“This is a great opportunity for me and my family,” Lambert said. “I have known Coach Quinn awhile and I’m looking forward to working with his staff.”
“We had a good year at RePublic and I’m proud of what we accomplished there and we have a couple of players that are going to play college football and a that’s a good accomplishment for such a small school.”
The Trailblazers, a charter school in Nashville will be looking for their third head football coach going into their third season of varsity football.
RePublic barely missed the Class 1A playoffs last season under Lambert as they finished 5-5.
The Trailblazers will move up two classifications and play in 3A in 2019.
Before coming to RePublic, Lambert was the most successful coach at Rossview posting a 36-38 overall record and leading the Hawks to three of the school’s six Playoff appearances since the school was built in 2001.
He also served as the head coach at Whites Creek in 2017 before taking over at RePublic last season.
Lambert also has college coaching experience as well as he was the Defensive Coordinator at Tennessee State (2006-08) and Illinois State (2001-05) as well as coaching as an assistant at Eastern Illinois, Southern Illinois, West Virginia Wesleyan and Wake Forest.
There are currently nine programs looking for a head coach they are: Bolivar, Bolton, Cocke County, Hardin Valley, Haywood, Manassas, MLK Prep, RePublic and Seqouyah
