Jeff Brothers has transformed the Nashville Christian football program into one of the state’s best in his seven years at the small Nashville school.
The Eagles made six playoff appearances before Brothers was hired in 2010. Since he was hired, the Eagles have gone 72-20 with seven playoff appearances, a Class 1A state title in 2015 and have five consecutive years of at least 10 wins per season.
Nashville Christian will head into Division II-A as the favorites to win their second state title in three years as they were ranked No. 1 in the TtnHighSchoolFootball.com Division II-A spring top 6.
Tennessee commitment Brant Lawless (6-3, 285) leads the Eagle defense after being a force last season as he made 38 tackles and recovered three fumbles from his tackle position.
Joining Lawless and making the defensive line really good will be seniors Jack Elliott, Warren Hanson and Maverick Marlin.
Elliot, Hanson and Marlin Will all will be two-way linemen starters as they will be on the offensive line as well.
The Eagles will bring back their three leading tacklers at linebacker with junior Jesse Parrish (67 tackles, 2.5 sacks), seniors Daniel Watson (57 tackles) and Lelan Wilhoite (31 tackles).
The secondary brings back starters in senior Jesse Watson (52 tackles, four interceptions) and junior Xavier Myers (49 tackles) to be ball hawks.
Myers and Wilhoite will be huge on offense for Nashville Christian as they both are coming off 1,000 yard seasons as Wilhoite ran for 1,212 yards and 19 touchdowns while Myers rushed for 1,173 yards and 17 scores.
Having Myers and Wilhoite back will make the quarterback duel between senior Chad Kinnard (142 yards, one touchdown) and junior Senior Bobby Clark (21 catches for 402 yards and three touchdowns) easier.
