Midway Looking for New Gridiron Leader

 

After coaching the eight years at Midway including the last four as the head coach, Ryen Minton is heading back to the Knoxville area.

Minton has been hired as the offensive coordinator at Christian Academy of Knoxville after leading Midway to back to back Class 1A playoff appearances (2017-18) and a 22-20 overall record.

Midway is coming off a 7-4 year where they made the 1A playoffs before losing to Cloudland in the first round.

“My time at Midway has been great and I appreciate all the players hard work and all the support from the community and the administration,” Minton said.

“I am really excited about the opportunity at CAK and it really feels good to be able to coach and teach the kids there.”

CAK is coming off a 3-8 season as they lost to Notre Dame in the Division II-AA playoffs.

“Adding Coach Minton to out staff is huge as he bring a great deal of experience to our staff, and his work-ethic is second to none,” CAK head coach Travis Mozingo said.

Before becoming the head coach at Midway, Minton was the defensive coordinator for the Green Wave for four seasons (2011-14).

Minton also had previous coaching stops at Sullivan South, Carter, Union County and Unaka before coming to Midway.

There are currently five programs looking for a head coach they are: Dresden, Glencliff, Hardin Valley, Midway and RePublic
