Mac McCurry Fired After Three Seasons at Franklin County

After three seasons at Franklin County, Mac McCurry has been let go as head football coach.

The Rebels missed the playoffs all three seasons under McCurry but his overall record was 14-16 as the Rebels finished 4-6 in 2019 after back to back 5-5 seasons in 2017 and 2018.

“He worked hard and I appreciate his dedication.  His record of 14-16 did not reflect his hard work.  I wish him well in his future coaching.  Mac is a good guy and it just was not the right time and place for him,” Franklin County Superintdent of Schools Stanley Bean said.

Rebel Defensive Coordinator Mike Head has been named as the Interim Head Coach and will lead the team through offseason workouts.

Franklin County will be looking for their first playoff appearance since 2010.

McCurry has an 252-89 overall record in stops at Moore County (1987-98), Marshall County (1999-2004), Ripley  (MS) (2005-09), Marion County (2012-13) and Franklin County (2017-19)

He has also served as the offensive coordinator at Pearl River Central (MS) in 2010 and was the defensive coordinator at Signal Mountain in 2011 before going to Marion County and started his coaching career at Tullahoma back in 1983.

Currently there are 13 schools  looking for a head coach they are: Camden, Cheatham County, Clinton, Franklin County, Goodpasture, Harding Academy, Lincoln County, Loretto, Overton, Pigeon Forge, Red Boiling Springs, Siegel and Station Camp
