After spending just one season as the defensive coordinator at Lausanne, Woodrow Lowe will run his own program again.
Lowe has been hired as the new head football coach at Fayette Ware.
“Several months ago, a confidential recruiting process was put in place during the search for a new head football coach at Fayette-Ware High School. After several months of personal interviews with the candidates, Coach Woodrow Lowe Jr. was selected to fill the position,” a Fayette County Public Schools press release stated.
He replaces Michael Hodum, who moved across Fayette county and is now the head football coach at Fayette Academy.
Hodum has led the Fayette Ware program the last two seasons and led the Wildcats to back to back Class 4A playoff appearances as Fayette Ware is coming off an 8-3 season.
“We always played them when I was at Bolivar. I realized their culture was headed in a great direction. Also, I saw some of the positive things they were doing in the school system,” Lowe said.
Before going to Lausanne last season, Lowe was the head coach at Bolivar for five seasons and led the Tigers to three consecutive Class 3A playoff appearances (2015-17) and a 25-28 overall record.
Currently there are five schools looking for a head coach they are: Austin East, MTCS, Sycamore, Whites Creek and Whitwell
