After just one season at Lakeway Christian, Jermel Jones has resigned at the small White Pine school.
Jones, 37, led the Lakeway Christian to a 0-5 record in their second varsity season this season.
“We were notified earlier today that Jermel Jones, Head Football Coach and Dean of Students at Lakeway Christian Academy, has submitted his resignation to return home to Central Florida and accept another coaching opportunity. While we are sad to see him go, we respect his decision to be back closer to family in his home state.
“In his short tenure at LCA, Coach Jones made an immediate impact both on and off the field. We appreciate all he has done to lay the groundwork for our football program and to leave it in a position for future success. Coach Jones led the Lions in a lot of firsts this year and will forever be a part of Lakeway’s football story. Please join us in praying for Coach Jones and his family during this transition.
Coach Jones addressed the team this afternoon to let the players know that he will be leaving in the next few weeks. Lakeway Christian Schools will begin an immediate search for a new head football coach,” the school announced in a press release.
