Glencliff didn’t have to go far to find their new football coach.
Mike Passen who has served as the defensive coordinator last season has been named as the leader of the Colt football program.
“I am excited and thankful that Mr. Wilson and the Administration of Glencliff High School had faith in me to continue the rebuilding process we started two years ago under Coach Thigpen,” Passen said. “I have been a part of rebuilding or starting a few other programs in the past and understand the challenges that we are facing.”
Passen replaces Tate Thigpen who resigned last month after running the program the last two seasons.
Thigpen is returning to his home state of Mississippi and will be the Offensive Coordinator at Philadelphia (MS) high school.
Under Thigpen, the Colts had back to back 1-9 seasons and Glencliff has not made the playoffs since 2011.
Passen started two metro Nashville middle school football programs starting at Bailey Middle School for two years (2001-02) before going over to Croft Middle School in 2003 and coached there until 2015.
He started his coaching career in Arkansas back in 1992 at Lake Hamilton (AR) high school before going to Ola (AR) for four seasons (1993-96) before moving to Tennessee to be an assistant at Davidson Academy in 1997 and stayed there until 2000.
There are currently two programs looking for a head coach they are: Dresden and RePublic
