Outlook:

New Glencliff head football coach Tate Thigpen is doing his best to change the losing culture at the metro Nashville school.

Thigpen was originally hired as the Colt Defensive Coordinator but when head coach Scott Smith resigned four months later in June, Thigpen was promoted to lead the program.

Glencliff hasn’t had a winning season since going 6-5 in 2011 and has only produced three winning records since going to the Class 5A state title game back in 1999.

Since 2012, the Colts are 6-44 and Thigpen and his staff are hoping hard work and a positive work ethic will help get Glencliff back on the winning side as they enter the 2017 currently on a 16 game losing streak.

The Colts will have a youth movement for the most part as junior Varon Solano will start at quarterback and fellow juniors Harold Jemison and Anthony Williams along with seniors William Sweatt, Tyler Murphy and Brandon Cato will compete for carries at running back.

Two sophomores will occupy spots on the offensive line as Irvin Reyes and David Nicholson with junior Chase Barbier will see time on the Colt line.

A couple of juniors will dot the line up at wide receiver as Rishad Petrus as well as Damien Patterson and senior D’Andre Mumphree will be targets for Solano in the passing game.

Sweatt and Murphy should be the leaders at linebacker while the Colt secondary will include Jemison, Williams and Cato back.
