The Friday Five- Week 7

The Friday Five- Week 7

By Chad Withrow:

Each week during the season, I will list my 5 biggest games of the week in order of importance to me. These lists are always difficult because every game has meaning to the players, coaches, families, and fans involved. I don’t take this exercise lightly. We have moved into the back half of the regular season and we now know who the real contenders are across the mid-state. This week’s Friday Five features a little bit of everything: A pair of unlikely undefeated teams, a backyard battle with real stakes on the line for the first time in years, a private school battle featuring one team trying to make a statement against a program they have been striving to catch, a Montgomery County clash between two programs with a complicated history, and two 6A teams trying to emerge from a shaky start to become a playoff threat. Here are the 5 biggest games of the night in the mid-state.

1) York Institute (5-0) @ Upperman (6-0)

2) Portland (5-1) @ White House (4-1)

3) Friendship Christian (5-2) @ Mt. Juliet Christian (5-1)

4) *Clarksville Northeast (1-5) @ Clarksville (5-1)

5) Centennial (3-3) @ Franklin (3-3)

*- 6-0 before being forced to forfeit 5 games for playing ineligible player
