McCallie vs Baylor

When: October 4th, 7:30 PM

Where: At Baylor

This matchup will be one of the best football games in the state of Tennessee this season, as McCallie will head to Baylor on Friday night in a matchup of the undefeated’s. McCallie comes into this game ranked as the best team in the state of Tennessee. Baylor isn’t far behind them, as they sit at No. 8 in the state.

Team Previews:

McCallie Blue Tornado (6-0, 2-0)

McCallie has been near impossible to stop this season. They come into the season averaging over 40 points a game. They have scored 40+ points twice already and have also scored 50+ twice. The Blue Tornado also headed down to Georgia last week to take on the West Forsyth Wolverines.

Their defense has been stellar all season long as well, only allowing 61 total points through six games.

Deangelo Hardy and BJ Harris have headed this high potent offense. Against the Knox Catholic Fighting Irish two weeks ago, both of those players combined for 552 total yards. Harris had 214 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while Hardy threw for 154 yards and rushed for 184.

A stout offensive line led by Adam Smith, Derrick Stoudemire, and Austin Gentle has helped make way for this offense.

Defensively, TJ Mason and Caleb Jones have played well for McCallie so far.

Baylor Red Raiders (5-0, 2-0)

Baylor heads into this game looking to upset the No. 1 team in the state of Tennessee. They will have a tough time but have the weapons to pull off the upset. They also are coming off of a bye week so they should be well-rested heading into this matchup.

They too average around 40 points a game, but their defense has been even better, allowing just eight points a game.

Elijah Howard, a Tennessee commit, is the name to know in this matchup. In Baylor’s last game against Ensworth, Howard had a great game, rushing the ball 31 times for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Neyland Jean will look to make some noise at QB for the Red Raiders, as he can make some noise on the ground and through the air.

Their defense has been excellent, led by Seth Johnson, Daniel Oliver, and Isaiah Golonka on the defensive line. Noah Martin has been a standout linebacker for the Red Raiders

Predicting the game

This is a very tough game to predict as both teams head into this game with great offenses and tough defenses. It was a low scoring game last season, as McCallie won 21-6.

It will be a great game and will be fun to see Harris and Hardy lead McCallie, while Howard carries Baylor.

I am going with another low scoring game here. McCallie will win in a tough one.
