Bledsoe County vs. Tyner Academy
When: September 6th, 8:00 PM
Where: At Tyner Academy
This Friday night doesn’t really offer many good matchups, so I decided to go with one of the only matchups between teams that come into this week with an undefeated record. Bledsoe County heads to Tyner Academy for their first away game of the season. Tyner Academy heads into this game for their second home game in a row after having a bye week to start the season off.
Tyner Academy Rams (1-0, 0-0)
As I mentioned above, the Rams started the season off with a bye week, so they had an extra week to prepare for last week’s game. They took full advantage of that extra week, as they scored 48 first-half points on their way to a 67-10 victory against Chattanooga Central.
Martavius Ryals had an impressive debut for the Rams, as he threw for 168 yards on 7-10 passing, adding on two passing touchdowns, while also rushing seven times for 77 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Jeremiah Sawyer also showed out during last week’s matchup, running the ball seven times for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Overall, the Rams finished with 620 yards of total offense.
Ryals also played a huge part on defense as well, finishing with 11 total tackles. Kamden Edwards also shined, finishing with 10 total tackles and one sack.
Ryals will play a huge factor in this game on both sides of the ball. If Bledsoe County wants to stay in this ballgame, they will have to find a way to stop the elusiveness that Ryals will play in this matchup.
Bledsoe County Warriors (2-0, 0-0)
Bledsoe County heads into this tough matchup with a 2-0 record. New head coach Dewayne Tabor has flipped a switch here at Bledsoe County and a win here would give the Warriors a ton of momentum. They finished 3-8 last season, but have a chance to pick up their third win in as many games.
They started the season on a great note after beating Whitwell 41-13 in a game that was never really close. They had a much tougher game last week against East Ridge. Thanks to a missed extra point attempt, the Warriors added on a touchdown and won the game by one point, winning 14-13. The game featured some great defense but not much offense at all.
Colby Rogers will play a big impact in this game as he can play all over the field for the Warriors, as he can play the running back position, wide receiver position, and defensive back. Their offensive line is a strong point for them this season and that can play an impact in this matchup on Friday
Predicting the game
This game has the makings to be an upset. I’m not calling an upset, but Bledsoe County has made some noise this season. Bledsoe County trailed Tyner 35-28 after three quarters last season before Tyner scored 20 points in the fourth.
Tyner is just too lethal and will be too much to handle in this game. I think Bledsoe County will keep it close for a few quarters like they did last season, but once again, Tyner Academy and Ryals will be too much.
