Dobyns Bennett vs. Alcoa
When: October 31th, 7:30 PM
Where: At South-Doyle
The last week of the regular season is finally here. In just a week, teams will be fighting for their respective state championships as the playoffs start. There are a number of good matchups for your last week of the regular season including Loudon vs. Red Bank and Powell vs. South-Doyle.
Dobyns Bennett Indians (8-1, 5-1)
Dobyns Bennett suffered an upset last Friday night, losing a rivalry game to Science Hill. The Hilltoppers took a 17-14 lead into halftime against Dobyns Bennett, but they weren’t able to capitalize in the second half, only scoring three points on a field goal in the fourth.
Their schedule doesn’t get any easier as they travel to Alcoa on Friday night.
Both Cade Maupin and Dalton Harkelroad will look to make a difference at the wide receiver position.
Defensively, Dobyns Bennett is stacked at linebacker. Jet Harris, Braxton Kulbacki, and Nate Whitley will all make a difference on defense on Friday night against Alcoa.
Alcoa Tornadoes (8-1, 6-0)
The Alcoa Tornadoes are on fire at this point in the season. They have been untouched since their loss against Maryville. Not only have they scored 269 points in their five games since that loss, but they haven’t allowed a single point since then. They’ve shut out Pigeon Forge, Tyner Academy, Northview Academy, Roane County, and Gatlinburg-Pittman. They’ve had a total of six shutouts on the season.
The Tornadoes have a stout offensive line, led by Brackston Alford, Malik Hall and Eli Mitchell. Ty Boyd, Isiah Cox, Ahmaudd Sankey, J.R. Jones, Caden Tollett, C.J. Armstrong, and Tristen Blankenship all will see action on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Predicting the game
I think Alcoa will continue their hot streak into this matchup. I believe that the Tornadoes impressive shut out streak will end this game though. Dobyns Bennett is coming off a bad loss and will look to avenge that loss. They will score some points, but Alcoa will run away with this game in the second half.
