Chris Austin is ready for his second opportunity as a head football coach.
Austin has been hired as the new head football coach at East Hickman replacing Brian Pence who resigned after posting a 4-26 record in three seasons at the Lyles school.
Austin spent the last five seasons as the defensive coordinator at cross town rival Hickman County.
“We will be naming Coach Chris Austin as the next head coach of East Hickman High School,” East Hickman principal Michael Beem said.
Austin will have plenty of work to do as the Eagles are coming off a winless season and will head into the 2019 season with an 11 game losing streak.
“I’m absolutely excited about this journey. I’m excited for me and my family, but also excited about the excitement we will bring to East Hickman,” Austin said.
He’s hoping his head coaching tenure at East Hickman is better then his time at Clarksville Northwest where he served as head coach for two seasons (2012-13) as the Vikings went 2-18 during that time frame.
Before going to Northwest, he was the defensive coordinator at Stewart County for four seasons (2008-11).
There are currently 14 programs looking for a head coach they are: Antioch, Bolton, Collierville, Covington, East Robertson, Greeneville, Hamilton, Morristown East, Nashville Overton, Northeast, Tellico Plains, Warren County, Wayne County and Whitwell
