Defensive Coordinator Vic Wharton Elevated at Carter

Vic Wharton will assume the role of head football coach at Carter for the 2018 season.


Wharton served as the Hornets defensive coordinator last season and will take over the program replacing Derek Witt who was placed on administrative leave with pay, pending an investigation after hazing allegations were brought against him in April.


Witt, a 1994 Carter graduate finished his first season leading the Hornets program as they finished 2-8 in 2017.


This will be Wharton’s first head coaching assignment after he was previously was an assistant coach at Knoxville Webb, Knoxville Catholic, CPA , Independence and Austin East.

The following three schools are looking for a new head coach: Humboldt, Whites Creek and White House Heritage
