David Dinger Resigns at Lookout Valley after third tenure as coach

After leading his Alma Mater for the third time in his 30 year coaching and teaching career, David Dinger has resigned as head football coach.

“I haven’t officially retired from Hamilton County, I’m just going to put my papers in. I can always pull them. I’m just stepping down as head football coach right now,” Dinger said.

Dinger, a 1983 graduate has been the head football coach at Lookout Valley on three different occasions (1989-94, 1997 and 2018) as he posted a 31-41 record and led the Yellow Jackets to three Class 1A playoff appearances (1994, 1997 and 2018).

The Yellow Jackets finished this season 6-5 beating Jo Byrns in the first round before losing to eventual 1A state champion Whitwell in the second round.

There are currently 19 programs looking for a head coach they are: Antioch, Bartlett, Bledsoe County, Cleveland, Collierville, East Hamilton, East Hickman, Fayetteville, Hillcrest, Hillwood, Lipscomb Academy, Lookout Valley, Melrose, Northeast, Northpoint Christian, Polk County, Stewarts Creek, Tellico Plains, and Westview
