Carter Looking for Head Football Coach after Interim Served in 2018

For the second straight season, Carter high school will be looking for a new head football coach.

Vic Wharton was named as the interim head coach for the Hornets in 2018 and after finishing 2-8, Carter will be moving to find another head coach according to Carter principal Angie Messer.

“Coach Vic was the interim coach for the season and we had a clear understanding from the beginning that the position was interim for the season and that he would have equal opportunity to apply for the permanent position when the job posted,” Messer said.

Last season was Wharton’s first head coaching assignment after he was previously was an assistant coach at Knoxville Webb, Knoxville Catholic, CPA , Independence and Austin East.

There are currently 11 programs looking for a head coach they are: Boyd Buchanan, Carter, Cumberland County, East Hickman, Fayetteville, Hillcrest, Hunters Lane, Sweetwater, Tellico Plains, Westview and White County
