COOKEVILLE- Brentwood Academy won their 14th football state title in convincing fashion over MUS Saturday night.

Behind a strong running game from senior Tomario Pleasant who rushed for 181 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Eagles won their fourth consecutive Division II state title beating the Owls 28-6 for their second straight Division II-AAA state title.

BA (11-2) won the Division II-AA state titles in 2015 and 2016 before winning the last two Division II-AAA titles.

They join Ensworth 2010-13 in Division II-AA), Alcoa (2004-08 in 2A and 2009-10 in 3A) and Maryville (2004-07 in 4A) as the only teams to win four or more consecutive state titles .

The Eagles also tied their state title record at 14-14 as they only trail Alcoa and Maryville in overall state titles won as both teams have won 16 titles.

Brentwood Academy also beat MUS for the first time for a state title and is now 1-2 in state title games against MUS after the Owls beat BA in both 2004 and 2008.

BA drew first blood as Pleasant scored from three yards out on their first drive of the game to lead 7-0.
MUS (11-1) got on the board as running back Kendall Hunter scored from seven yards out but a missed extra point still had BA leading 7-6.

The Eagles then put the game away in the second quarter as junior quarterback Wade Williams threw touchdown passes to Preston Sagan (65 yards) and James Jordan (16 yards) and Pleasant added a 44 yard touchdown run to put the Eagles up 28-6 at the half.
