Allen Resigns After Five Seasons at MLK Prep

Jesse Allen has resigned after five tough seasons as head football coach at Martin Luther King Prep and will head to Craigmont.

Allen will be the defensive coordinator for the Chiefs after spending the last five seasons at MLK Prep trying to get the program off the ground.

“I enjoyed my time at MLK and I appreciate the opportunity and wish the team all the success they deserve,” Allen said.

It has been a difficult time for Allen and the Ram program as they have a 4-47 overall record during his five year tenure.

The Rams made the Class 2A playoffs in 2015 despite a winless record as they finished the year 0-11 after they beaten 75-22 by Manassas in the first round.

The best record for the Rams under Allen was a 2-8 season back in 2014, they will head into the 2019 season with an eight game losing streak as they finished 1-9 last year.

The 2015 playoff appearance is the first trip for MLK Prep since the school became a charter school and the school name was changed from Frayser high school to MLK Prep in 2014.

There are currently six programs looking for a head coach they are: BGA, Bolivar, Bolton, Cocke County, Haywood, Manassas and MLK Prep
