The week four edition of TNHighSchoolFootball.com’s “Specialist of the Week” has been awarded to Wilson Central Kicker Adam Williams who converted on field goals of 51, 25, and 40 yards leading the Wildcats to a 23-17 victory over Siegel.
Williams put on a field goal kicking clinic last Friday night and solidified his position as one of the best kickers in the state. He kicked field goals of 51, 25 and 40 yards, put most of his kickoffs into the end zone and boomed all four of his punts over 40 yards, including one of 51 which was stopped at the 1-yard line. In addition to his kicking and punting duties, he also drew a pair of roughing-the-kicker penalties that kept severel drives alive for the Wildcats.
“(Williams) is definitely a big weapon,” Dedman said. “He’s a guy that we knew coming in we could count on. In some ways, I don’t know how important he is. We’re taking advantage of him. He’s able to flip the field, make the field goals and kicked, I think, every kick into the end zone except one.”
As close as this game ended up being, Williams was certainly one of the key reasons why the Wildcats were able to squeak this victory out and improve to 4-0 on the year.
Williams, receiving high praise from his coaching staff, has gotten off to a hot start in the 2016 season and hopes to continue his hot streak this Friday night at home against McGavock.
