Patrick Daley resigns after 12 seasons of Guiding Copper Basin

A lot has changed in Patrick Daley’s life in the last year.

This year Daley got married and he and hid wife have welcomed their first child, so the Daley household has been very hectic and something had to change.

So Daley has resigned as the Copper Basin head football after 12 seasons to spend time with his growing family.

“We are very sadden that Coach Daley will no longer be our High School Football coach and English teacher and Coach Daley is a very important part of our school,” Copper Basin principal Tim Kidd said.

“Coach Daley is recently married and has a infant child and so he wanted to spend more time with his family and he will be very missed.”

Despite a 49-81 overall record at Copper Basin, the Cougars made seven Class 1A playoff appearances (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 under Daley, a 1985 Copper Basin graduate.

Copper Basin made the Quarterfinal round in both 2010 and 2014, the best season under Daley was in 2012 when the Cougars finished 10-2.

The Cougars are coming off a playoff appearance this year as they lost to Jo Byrns in the first round as they finished 2-9 on the year.

The following 15 schools are looking for a new head coach: Cannon County, Chattanooga Central, Copper Basin, Gibbs, Halls, Humboldt, Houston, KIPP Academy, Kingsbury, Memphis East, Ooltewah, Scott, Sequatchie County and Westwood
