Chad Grabowski is excited to get started in Copper Hill.
Grabowski who led the Red Bank football program the last four seasons has been named the new football coach at Copper Basin replacing James Daley who resigned to spent more time with his family in February.
“I’m really excited to join the Copper Basin high school community, and I am looking forward to working with such a supportive administration, booster club and community,” Grabowski said.
“I am looking forward to working will all of the presentq and future Cougars to build the Copper Basin Football program into a Championship Program.”
In his four seasons at Red Bank, Grabowski posted a 29-20 record and got the Lion football program back on track as they made four Class 3A playoff appearances and the Lions made the 3A Semifinals losing to State champion Alcoa this season as they finished 11-3.
“We are very happy to have Coach Chad Grabowski at Copper Basin High School. Coach Grabowski come to Copper Basin with a plethora of experience and I have no doubt Coach Grabowski and his wife Amber and his four children will be a wonderful addition to the Copper Basin community,” Copper Basin principal Tim Kidd said.
Before coming to Red Bank, Grabowski was the head coach at Mt. Dora (FL) where he posted a 33-20 record in four seasons there and has a 62-40 overall coaching record.
Daley, a 1985 Copper Basin graduate led the program for 12 years and had a 49-81 overall record.
Despite a 49-81 overall record at Copper Basin, the Cougars made seven Class 1A playoff appearances (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017).
The Cougars are coming off a playoff appearance this year as they lost to Jo Byrns in the first round as they finished 2-9 on the year.
Currently only St. George’s and Whites Creek are now the only schools looking for a new head coach.
