Brandon Usery Announced as new Bolton head coach

Brandon Usery is ready to be a head coach.

Usery, 32 has been named as the new head coach at Bolton replacing Dee Alsbrook who resigned last month.

Bolton High School is proud to announce our new head football coach Mr. Brandon Usery,” Bolton principal Bo Griffin said.

Bolton is coming off a 2-8 season in 2017 after making the 5A playoffs in 2016 finishing 5-6 as they lost to Centennial in the first round.

That playoff trip was the first playoff appearance since 2012 for Bolton.

Usery served as the offensive coordinator the last three years at his alma mater Houston and started his coaching career at nearby Munford and stayed there for three years (2012-14) before coming to Houston.

“I’m extremely excited and humbled by this opportunity. I look forward to working with the great young men of Bolton High School and everyone in the Bolton community and this is a great time to be a Bolton Wildcat,” Usery said.

The following 12 schools are looking for a new head coach: Copper Basin, DCA, Dobyns Bennett, Houston, Knoxville Halls, Memphis East, RePublic, Richland, St. George’s, Stone Memorial, The Kings Academy and Westwood

Davidson Academy DE Ani Izuchukwu Commits to Bulldogs
Ani Izuchukwu has become the seventh commitment for Mississippi State in the Class of 2019.

Izuchukwu (6-4, 230) committed to Bulldogs over two other finalists in Alabama and Ohio State.

He also received 13 other offers from Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

In only six games in 2017, he recorded 23 tackles including nine for loss (four sacks), a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as the Bears had an undefeated regular season finishing 11-1 on the year.

Izuchukwu joins six other players have committed in the Class of 2019: Greeneville wide receiver Dorien Goddard (Virginia), Christian Brothers defensive end Bill Norton (Georgia), MUS defensive back Maurice Hampton (LSU), MBA offensive lineman Jackson Lampley (Tennessee), Kirby quarterback Jaden Johnson (Louisville), and Friendship Christian defensive tackle Luke Smith (Appalachian State).
